What we do

Our flagship program inspires students to get curious about the outdoors by connecting them to National Park Rangers and other outdoor leaders across the country via personalized video messages, answering student questions.

We want to turn curiosity into connections and promote stewardship of our natural world by letting student inquiry lead the conversation.

What we do

Our signature “Digital Postcards” program connects classrooms with National Park Rangers across the United States via Video Postcards. Our Rangers represent a wide array of National Parks, Historic Sites, and Monuments. Post Pigeon EDU provides a flexible curriculum to educators, we pass along your students’ questions to the rangers, and you receive a personalized video postcard in response. You focus on getting your students curious about some of our world’s most treasured and special places, we’ll handle the rest.

Our Pillars & Process

Our flagship program

Get Curious.

Through our free educational curriculum, students are introduced to National Parks and the importance of environmental stewardship, in addition to learning about the flora, fauna, history, and geology of their selected park.

Get Connected.

Educators then engage their students’ curiosity through inquiry-centered activities, and get student questions answered by National Park Rangers and other outdoor leaders from across the country in the form of personalized, asynchronous video messages.

Get Involved.

After connecting with a National Park Ranger, students are then asked to investigate how they can become environmental stewards and advocates for the green spaces in their own community. Lastly, we then connect students to programs that will get them physically outdoors, at a free or reduced cost.

Why we do what we do

How can we spark curiosity about the outdoors for ALL students? This is the central question that drives all that we do.

Why? Because we know and believe that sparking curiosity about the world beyond what’s right in front of us is of vital importance. We know that representation matters and seeing people who look like you in leadership is powerful. We know that many spaces, the outdoors included, have historically excluded whole groups and communities. We know access starts with awareness and technology can be an incredible tool to provide it. And because we firmly believe that we could all use a little more awe and wonder in our lives.

Why we do what we do

How can we use technology to improve access to the world at large – its diversity of people and places – for students? This is the central question that drives all that we do.

Why? Because we know and believe that sparking curiosity about the world beyond what’s right in front of us is of vital importance; we know that representation matters and seeing people who look like you in leadership is powerful; we also know that many spaces, the outdoors included, has historically excluded whole groups including BIPOC communities and because we could all use a little more awe and wonder in our lives.

“No one will protect what they don't care about, and no one will care about what they have never experienced.”
